Seems I’m on a role with new recipes!!  I’m trying to make lots of meals to freeze up to make life easier!

Normally I’d suggest staying away from canned anything and if you prefer, the healthier choice is to make up the legumes beforehand from their dried composition by soaking in water and boiling them OR using a pressure cooker.  Problem for me is that they make me fart even more so!  Also, feel free to chop up a slew of tomatoes rather than using the can!  The worst part of this recipe is really the baked beans with maple syrup.. but, this is where the some of the flavour comes from as well as with the chili powder and cumin.  Again, if you want to be uber healthy, and you really want to shed some pounds, omit the baked beans- it’ll still be AWESOME!

Feel free to add corn and/or mushrooms into the crockpot.  As well, garnish with a sprinkle of cheese (just a sprinkle…) and some green onions!!

Oh, and omit the bread please!!  🙂  Think of it as soup!!  I can’t let you have everything you know…. 🙂

So, here’s a wonderful chili recipe for you to enjoy!!

1 can chick peas, 1 can black eyed peas, 1 can fava beans

2 cans of unsalted diced tomatoes

1 kg of lean beef or substitute with turkey, chicken or TVP (for vegetarians)

2 cans of baked beans with maple syrup (this is the naughtiness…)

1/4 of an onion chopped up

    5 tbsp of chili powder

    1 tbsp of cumin

    Ground black pepper to taste

Fry up the lean ground meat or prepare the TVP with the chopped onion, 2 tbsp of chili powder, 1 tbsp cumin and black pepper

Dump all of the other ingredients into your crock pot.

Add the cooked meat into the crock pot.

Simmer on Low for 4-8 hours.

    YUM!

    ENJOY!
